Our Relationship with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
Through years of manufacturing excellence, Alitex have created a collection of beautifully designed aluminum greenhouses – named the Kew Greenhouse Collection. Each structure within the collection maintains the timeless aesthetics of traditional Victorian greenhouses.
The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, England UK have an ethos that is governed by the principle that ‘plants matter’ – be it for health, for pleasure, or for life. Alitex holds this ethos at its core. With a shared value and our expertise in the greenhouse industry, we received a seal of approval for our greenhouse collection with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
History and Development of Kew
From 1759 when Princess Augusta founded the nine-acre botanic garden within the pleasure grounds at Kew, to the transportation of plants from the Falklands in glazed Wardian cases during the 19th century, and the reopening of the Temperate House in 2018; the gardens at Kew date back to the early 18th century. They are now renowned for their scientific research of a variety of plant and fungi.
Looking to broaden their partnerships and wanting them to be for more than commercial gain, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew were searching for like-minded companies that aim to provide a fulfilling and satisfying growing experience.
In turn, Alitex have sponsored the annual Kew diploma students “Growing under Glass” award. This support and Alitex’s involvement with Kew students, ensures we stay at the forefront of innovation and sustainability.
