Originally established in 1952 in Alton, we later relocated just a few miles down the road to our current home, Torberry Farm, nestled in the picturesque South Downs, in 2001. Torberry Farm has evolved into a breathtaking show site and an ideal space for our expanding factory, enabling us to proudly manufacture everything here in the UK and craft some of the world’s most exquisite bespoke greenhouses.
Since our humble beginnings in horticulture in the 1950s, we have developed our flagship Thomas Messenger glasshouse, introduced the National Trust Collection of greenhouses in 2004, expanded into thriving overseas markets, and garnered a prestigious endorsement from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. We remain dedicated to ongoing research and development, continually striving for product enhancement and innovation.
Joe Hickson – Sales Designer
A deep-sea fishing enthusiast with a passion for greenhouse architecture, Joe has over 40 years’ experience in greenhouse and landscape design.
His knowledge has built from the initial beginnings as a graduate from the University of Massachusetts School of Landscape Architecture as well as a Master of Education. Joe’s experience also comes from over 40 years of working with some of North America’s most prominent Garden Centres and Growing Ranges.
Annie Fox – Project Manager
A globetrotter by nature, Annie joined Alitex three years ago as a Project Leader in the UK office. Since then, she has embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Barbados and now oversees all our US projects.
During her time in Barbados, Annie has embraced the local lifestyle, adopting two dogs and making it a weekly ritual to swim with sea turtles.
James Winfield – Sales Designer
Beginning his journey with Alitex in the UK as a Sales Designer, James has dedicated himself to mastering the art of greenhouse design. Three years later, he has transitioned to assisting our US clients in envisioning their ideal greenhouse.
During his free time, James is currently training for two stages of the Tour de France.
