Joe Hickson represents Alitex in the USA. A deep-sea fishing enthusiast with a passion for greenhouse architecture, Joe has over 40 years’ experience in greenhouse and landscape design.
His knowledge has built from the initial beginnings as a graduate from the University of Massachusetts School of Landscape Architecture as well as a Master of Education. Joe’s experience also comes from over 40 years of working with some of North America’s most prominent Garden Centres and Growing Ranges.
An established presence in the greenhouse industry, Joe has been sharing his expertise with horticulturalists since 1983 as President and Co-Founder of Private Garden Greenhouse Systems and through his founding of JMH Consulting LLC in 2013.
In addition, Joe has designed and built several of the world’s largest commercial growing ranges. He has also designed and constructed some of the most prestigious greenhouses, conservatories and orangeries in North America. In his career, Joe has designed and built 20 million square feet of greenhouses.
Joe takes pride in Victorian Architecture, having introduced the Victorian Greenhouse into the US 25 years ago. He has an eye for symmetry and color, with his career taking him across the world to discover new cultures and inspiration. From private estates belonging to well-known individuals, to Public Gardens such as the New York Botanical Gardens and Washington DC’s National Botanical Gardens to name a few; Joe’s portfolio is continuously expanding.
Joe is married to Kathy, who is not only his wife but has been his business partner for over 40 years. Their farm is situated in the Pioneer Valley in Massachusetts, a beautiful location to inspire Joe’s work. When not working, Joe enjoys deep-sea fishing off the coast of Cape Cod and Naples, Florida while supporting his wife in raising Arabian horses. Joe and Kathy also love working together in their Alitex Victorian Greenhouses.
